2017 New Orleans Bowl: North Texas vs Troy

It is official: North Texas will take on Troy on December 16th at Noon CT at the Superdome in New Orleans for the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.

The newly created MeanGreenPostseason.com has further details about parking and university-sponsored events.

North Texas is 2-8 all time vs Troy with the Trojans having won last in Denton in 2012 14-7, beating Dan McCarney’s squad at Apogee.

Troy are the Sun Belt champions for the sixth time* having beaten rival Arkansas State in a ridiculous game this past week. For our Mean Green, this is the fifth time in the New Orleans bowl and the first one since the streak of four-straight in the Darell Dickey years.

NT lost three of four. Troy last played in this bowl in 2010, beating Ohio on December 28, 2010.

The last two seasons the attendance was about 35k+. The first NOB was in 2002, when NT played Colorado State (we lost). This will be the program’s fifth appearance in the bowl game, tying Southern Miss for the most all time.

*Outright or at least partial champions
