Howdy folks. With basketball season just around the corner  I thought I’d catch some of y’all up on a few roundball  notes.

In men’s recruiting , we had a big visitor this past weekend with 7′ post Rickey Brice taking a unofficial. Brice attends PCA (Pantego Christian Academy ) and  is one of the top bigs in the state. Along with North Texas , he holds offers from the likes of Colorado , Oklahoma St and UCLA just to name a few. This is the 2nd big man to visit in as many weeks as UNT also had the talented Tony Lewis in the weekend before.

The staff has been very busy recently making stops at Kimball , Richland HS , Rowlett and New Mexico JC. Just a hunch, but I think that head coach Tony Benford has made former Fresno St commit Michael Kolawole his #1 guard target. The 6’3 SG from Rowlett / Dallas Mustangs recently re opened up his recruitment.

In other news, the men have added walk-on Chris Campbell to the roster. Campbell was recently at Jacksonville College after a standout career at Clear Brook HS. And speaking of walk-ons, former Mean Green guard Austin Mitchell has transferred to Hesston College (KS) .

In women’s news , coach Pete and staff have just added a commitment from Millwood (OK) HS Derae Lewis. Lewis is a 6’3 post who is also HS & AAU teammates with another UNT commit , Raven Prince
