Last week MGN made CUSA picks against the spread and faired pretty well. Let us do it again as we get ready for UNT v Army at 11am. Hopefully we have a better time picking totals.
Before we begin let us have a reading:
If you like to gamble, I tell you I’m your man,
You win some, lose some, it’s all the same to me,
The pleasure is to play, makes no difference what you say
Motörhead
Army -18 vs North Texas / 48
They say never to (fake) bet on your team. I believe you should not bet against your team. Give me NT and the UNDER. Too much run game from both sides.
Rice v Prairie View A&M
No line. But Rice should get their first win of the year today.
Mizzou -7.5 v Middle Tennessee / 73.5
Missouri is not good by SEC standards, getting pasted in the last two weeks by offenses that had struggled. But they do boast talent. I believe in the Tigers, however irrationally. MTSU plays to their competition and that Vandy loss really sticks with me. I will take the OVER.
Marshall -10 v Charlotte / 59
Marshall opened as 19 point favorites but this has dropped. I would have taken Charlotte in that case but here I think Marshall has enough to beat this improving Charlotte team at home. Marshall and the UNDER. I do not feel super confident about this.
FIU + 18 v LaTech / 67
FIU are probably going to get beat badly. The question is: can they score 20 points or so, as La Tech grabs 40-something? The answer is probably, considering the Bulldogs allowed at least 24 to FCS South Carolina State, and n00b UMASS. LaTech and the OVER.
WKU -13.5 v Old Dominion / 65
If this were Norfolk I would be inclined to pick an upset. This is a good test of ODU, but also a test for WKU coming off their big win over rival MTSU. I will take ODU to cover, and the UNDER.
UTSA -9.5 v UTEP / 47
The Runners play well at home, and UTEP is reeling. That said, I had posited that we could see a UTEP mid-season renaissance starting today. I will not pick UTEP outright, but they will cover. I will also take the UNDER.
