What Does It Mean?
UNI is a good shooting team, and can shoot the three. They can shoot the three and do it well, but don’t take an abnormal amount of them., They take good shots and take care of the ball, for the most part. Basically a team that takes good, smart shots. They don’t defend super well, and don’t turn you over or anything special. They aren’t bad at anything, but a solid team all around.
North Texas, as usual is a slow paced team with experience, that shoots the ball well from distance, but relies on athleticism to get second and third chances. NT is a defense-first team.
Both squad are slow-paced squads, but UNI has been scoring well this season.
Personnell
Overall UNI is returning half of their production from last year. Anderson, Campbell and Hutson are all returnees. Expect Jacob Hutson to touch the ball a ton. His season high is 22 points vs Wichita St. Anderson and Campbell have also hit the high teens. Campbell and Anderson can shoot the three.
North Texas’ Atin Wright is familiar with this squad, having played them twice last year. He was held in check in both games. Wright hit the game winner against Oregon State this week, and has yet to explode for the big points (he averaged high mid-teens at Drake and Cal-State Northridge) but is at a respectable 11.8 this season.
A Win
North Texas faces the winner of the other game between the Bonnies and Utah State.
A Loss
North Texas faces the loser of of the other game between the Bonnies and Utah State
Things To Watch
We want Atin Wright to get comfortable in this offense. Lattrell Jossell has been doing well, but we are still in the early season “gel time” part. NT has a lot of experienced players but they are finding their roles on this team in this season. There’s a lot to like, but it is all a work-in-progress. Sometimes when the offense stalls, it shows. Defensively, the squad has been super aggressive and locked in. Love that. That will always keep you in the game.
