I’m all for making lists and such. It is important to recognize their uselessness, however. The list that matters is called Standings.
I don’t mean to kill the party but some fans are really boosting this ranking. Let’s not be like Arkansas State and start the NCAA party before the season even tips off.
I realize this is all new to us. Never has there been such hype surrounding the basketball team, or any North Texas team for that matter. Even when Jamario Thomas and Patrick Cobbs were getting press for being back-to-back national rushing champs, they were drowned out by the usual BCS conference hoopla.
So with NBC’s College Basketball Talk ranking North Texas #2 in their Mid-Major Power Rankings, it is understandable that fans are hyped. It is obvious that we are new to this new era of national prominence.
