Let’s Talk About MTSU

I wrote up a nice long piece looking at stats and things. Then I deleted it. There is much to be learned from stats and trends and probabilities. I just don’t feel like being a wonk today.

The scenario is this, hot shot: Middle Tennessee is better than the team we laid waste to back in 2011 on that rainy day where Lance ran free like a mustang and racking up 313 yards and four scores. They began the year ¬†by losing ignobly to McNeese State yet have bounced back with some decent wins. They look formidable. Head Coach Rick Stockstill is facing scrutiny but that’s only because they aren’t playing as well as they did three years ago.

They are missing Benny Cunningham, the leading rusher so far this season. In the one game without him, they took on #12 Miss St. We don’t know what kind of team they are without him in a SBC kind of matchup.

This is a test of 2-1 teams. Both sides are talking up SBC title chances. North Texas controls it’s own destiny. Middle needs a loss from ULM but dropping a game here would effectively put them in Hopes and Prayers category.

This game is on espn3. There is an Alumni Association watching party at the Rudy’s in Allen if you are so inclined. Information can be had here.

If you are in San Antonio, I will be trying to get a  little group together. Let me know by email or twitter yo.
