FBS football is way too large to efficiently determine a true champion. We use polls and metrics and lots of other fiddly methods that sometimes exclude a possible Cinderella. Whereas the bowl system is really just a cash-grab and largely based on revenue than putting together a couple of deserving teams, they do have some good. If you were at the Cotton Bowl for the HOD bowl in 2014, you know what I am talking about. It was fun.
