The moments before the first game are the absolute best. If you do it right, the game day fervor fills you with hope. You believe. Belief and hope and excitement make opening ceremony truly enjoyable in the way that no other can.
As I go through the rituals of a new season — the previews, the reading, the writing, the traveling to the first game — I am filled with irrational hope and it feels good.
