CUSA Power Rankings 10.11.13

  1. ECU – Had a scare vs MTSU but shook it off and kept rolling
  2. Marshall – Really impressive vs UTSA.
  3. Rice – Took on preseason fave Tulsa and won in OT in Oklahoma, ya’ll. Looking formidable.
  4. Tulane – Didn’t look impressive in the win against UNT. Still, there is something to be said for winning, no matter how ugly. It would be nice to see them look impressive when they do it, however. Take on ECU this week and we’ll learn a lot.
  5. MTSU – Lost a close one to ECU. Moral victories don’t really count here.
  6. UNT – Shot themselves in the foot this week. That is a running theme there. Defense, however, wow. They looked amazing in holding the Tulane to 227 yards. Derek Thompson played well but the run game is missing.
  7. Tulsa – Tulsa isn’t scare at all. At home and drop an OT game v Rice.
  8. UTSA – Eric Soza, senior QB, has thrown more picks than TDs. Conversly, the secondary has yet to grab an INT. I feel like Soza’s struggles are due to pressing. He knows he has to get his team points because the defense can’t stop the pass.
  9. LaTech – It’s always nice to get to play UTEP, apparently.
  10. FAU – Went from just a four-point loss to Rice to a fourteen point win against UAB. Improvement, indeed. At home vs 1-0 in CUSA Marshall. Hurm.
  11. UTEP – Utep’s only win is against New Mexico State. They do put up about 33 points a game. If you are going to go down, might as well go down firing.
  12. UAB – FAU ate ’em up.
  13. FIU – They aren’t the worst in the land thanks to their win over So Miss. Speaking of:
  14. SoMiss – Couldn’t beat FIU. They might never get a win, ever. Favorite quote was from Matt Hinton on Deadspin:

119.FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL (1-4). FIU rebounded from a 72-0 debacle at Louisville to upset Southern Miss, 24-23, extending the Golden Eagles’ losing streak to 17 games with a blocked field goal to win on the final play. As a Southern Miss alum, I can report that this is without a doubt the single most humiliating loss in my lifetime.
