Inside the Matchups
NORTH TEXAS PASS DEFENSE
VS.
MARSHALL OFFENSE
Edge
Symbol 2
Why
The North Texas pass defense has been nonexistent in previous weeks. With no pass rush to speak of Chase Litton should have enough time to find open WR’s.
NORTH TEXAS RUN DEFENSE
VS.
MARSHALL MISS RUN OFFENSE
Edge
Symbol 2
Why
The North Texas run defense has been sliced and diced recently. Marshall has a physical rushing attack and has a plethora of RBs to get the job done against NT.
NORTH TEXAS DEFENSIVE LINE
VS.
MARSHALL OFFENSIVE LINE
Edge
Symbol 2
Why
No pass rush and a DL not get off blocks doesn’t bode well for North Texas.
NORTH TEXAS PASS OFFENSE
VS.
MARSHALL PASS DEFENSE
Edge
Symbol 2
Why
Marshall has a salty pass defense holding QBs to under 50% completion percentage. Marshall also ranks in the top 15 for INTs. DaMarcus Smith is likely going to struggle.
NORTH TEXAS RUN OFFENSE
VS.
MARSHALL RUN DEFENSE
Edge
Symbol 2
Why
I think North Texas will find some success against Marshall in the run game, but I’m not sure its going to be a whole lot.
NORTH TEXAS OFFENSIVE LINE
VS.
MARSHALL DEFENSIVE LINE
Edge
Symbol 2
Why
The Marshall DL is playing at high level right now. The UNT OL is struggling. Not a great matchup.
NORTH TEXAS SPECIAL TEAMS
VS.
MARSHALL SPECIAL TEAMS
Symbol 2
Edge
Why
Blake Macek has been a baller. Kidsy is due. I like Bradley to bust a big return this game.

GAME PLAN FOR VICTORY

How Marshall will Win

Establish the run game. Force DaMarcus Smith to beat them from the pocket. Dont give North Texas multiple chances with turnovers. Dont fall into the trap of overlooking North Texas. Hit the Mean Green early and keep hitting them, until they pack up shop.

How North Texas will Win

North Texas will win if they are able to slow down the Herd’s powerful rushing attack. If NT takes away Marshall’s ability to run it will put more pressure on the freshman QB to be a play maker. North Texas will also have to find ways to be explosive in the special teams area. A big return for a TD or a blocked punt would help create momentum. Basically North Texas is dying for things to go right. Positive things need to happen early for North Texas to have any shot.
