Ra’Shaad Samples, current LA Rams running back coach with many connections.

There is buzz about Harrell among the fans, but his star has dimmed a bit. He was a part of the successful years of NT’s Littrell Era and nows quarterbacks. NT has struggled to find and recruit good QB play at the level of WKU or UTSA.

The Athletic’ Vannini hears lots of rumors, and as part of their coach got fired, who could replace him? series, listed the following:

Justin Fuente, former Memphis and Virginia Tech coach.
Garrett Riley, current TCU assistant and Broyles Award finalist.
Eric Morris, former UIW assistant and current Washington State coordinator. MGN interviewed Morris before the matchup.
Ryan Walters, current Illinois DC, and former NT secondary coach.
K.C. Keeler, current Sam Houston coach
Graham Harrell, former NT offensive coordinator
Kenny Perry, TTU associate head coach
Emmett Jones, TTU wide receivers coach
Joe Gillespie, TCU defensive coordinator

Mike Craven at Texas Football lists the same dudes.

Of the above listed, Harrell, Morris (me, I’ve said this) and Justin Fuente have been the most frequently mentioned. Most were suggested when Littrell was a hot-commodity. Harrell’s star has dimmed a bit, and Fuente struggled at Virginia Tech but did a great job at Memphis. Morris left UIW in a great spot and should be credited with some of the recent success of departing head coach (Texas State) CJ Kinne through his developing and building the program. He recruited Cam Ward, current Wazzu QB to UIW and then both moved on to the P5. Morris took a coordinator job but was in the running for Texas State up to this week.
