Thoughts:

North Texas needed a HS QB in this class. Littrell evaluated a number of prospects, but chose to go after an under the radar guy. The reason why Fine fits at North Texas is, because he is a pure passer. He has played in an air raid system his entire HS career. One similar to what North Texas will employ next year. Fine set the record books on fire the past two year throwing for over 9000 yards and 124 TDs. When you watch him  play he displays pretty good accuracy and pocket awareness. He does not have overwhelming arm strength, but its adequate for the air raid system. His biggest detractor is size. He will need to add weight before he steps on the field as a college athlete. QBs under 6’0 need to be over 200 lbs to help protect their bodies. Fine has enough speed and athleticism to use his legs as a weapon, but again you don’t want a 170 lb QB scrambling often.

Fine didnt have a lot of offers out there, but that doesnt mean the kid cant play. Recruiting QBs is often a crap shoot. Some of the great college QBs turn out to be 2 star guys without a major offer list. I do know Fine can play the game at a high level and is a good fit for Littrell. I think he is a project and should be redshirted. He needs a year in a college weight program before he is ready. I wish he could’ve been an early enrollee. It will be interesting to watch Fine’s development at North Texas.
