College Gameday Calling on Mean Green Fans

Saturday marks the official return of college football and College Gameday. I’m sure you’ve all seen or heard of the show. Its part of college football pageantry. Every week the group of Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond, and Lee Corso take their show to the weeks biggest game site. Its quite a show if you’ve never attended one before.  Every student/fan wants College Gameday to come to their campus. For small schools it announces to the world that you have arrived.

This Saturday College Gameday will be kicking off the season at Sundance Square in Fort Worth. They are covering the Florida St. vs. Oklahoma St game. That doesnt mean North Texas fans can’t invade the set. In fact College Gameday’s Producer Lee Fitting asked for YOUR attendance.

College Gameday then retweeted his tweet of coarse. Now Mr. Fitting didnt exactly think of UNT right away. It took a little push from yours truly.

My Reply:

So if your not heading down the Austin for the game please make an effort to get out there show off and some Mean Green pride. Students, Alumni, Fans, The Green Brigade get down there and show College Gameday that its worth making the trip up to Denton one day for a game.

Has a Mean Green sign ever appeared before on College Gameday?

In 2009 my wife and I made a trip to Austin, TX for College Gameday. It was Texas Tech vs. Texas. We decided to make a sign with both of our school’s logo on it. Hey we though it would be fun. We did know it would be a long shot to actually make it on TV, but it was worth the try. Well our long shot paid off! Its not a great picture at all, but you can almost make out the green SOW logo.

So ladies and gents, dont let this be the only Mean Green sign to ever make an appearance on College Gameday. I will be watching and I hope to see Mean Green flags and banners. I hope to see clever signs about us beating UT. Get out there and have some fun!

Go Mean Green!
