Middle Tennessee began their Sunbelt campaign with a loss at South Alabama giving up 25 to Tim Williams, a guy who came in averaging 15 a game. The MUTS basically choked the game away beginning with about four minutes to go.They missed all eight of their shots, and let South ‘Bama steal the game from under them, turning a two-point lead into a six point loss.
We, on the other hand, are coming into this game riding a six-game win streak, including that beat down we put on LSU at the Pete Maravich Pavilion (or whatever).
We have found a nice little groove. Check out these margins of victories:
6, 9 (OT v TTU), 3, 4, 4, 11, 6, 19, 23, 20, 21, 12, 17.
Notice that nice little steak of 19+ point shellackings we put on these guys?
Sweet.
The bad news is we have played a good portion of our games at home (9) and both losses came on the road. This is our sixth road game, and it is against a conference opponent coming off a loss.
As TheTastyGreek over on gmg pointed out, this is our only game against the Blue Raiders because they reside in the Sunbelt East.
Really though, all you have to worry about is UNT getting wins.
Talking about the Sunbelt Tourney in March George Odufuwa said in the Houston Chronicle:
I feel like we control our own destiny. We know we have to win three games in a row… We’ll get it done.
Speaking of Big George, he is still nursing that ankle injury (he rolled it in pregame vs ULL) and might be back by the January 13th game at home vs FIU.
We shall see.
Dare I say that this is a team we should beat without him?
