Creighton 42 North Texas 25 Halftime

We wanted attention and good matchups. We have All-American Doug McDermott’s Creighton BlueJays and enough publicity to warrant multiple mentions in every leading college basketball blog on the internet. That first half could have only ended worse if someone got hurt. Creighton showed off it’s talent and finally broke through with some three point shots. The Mean Green benefited from both teams’ tentativeness early and led 13-11 at the 11:28 mark. After that  Creighton outscored us 28-12. Good news so far: Tony Mitchell can score on this squad. Bad News: nearly everyone else can’t. Our pressing defense has created some havok that led to some open plays, but outside of transition buckets (including a T-Mitch Lebron-style punch) we have had to work extremely hard for each basket.

This second half will be tough playing from behind. Fourteen points is a nice run and a half, though. The fouling needs to stop and the shooting needs to improve. Let’s see if that happens.
